Position Summary

The Humane Society of Catawba County is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of our shelter facilities. The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors we serve.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily maintenance and operation of all shelter buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment failures and costly repairs.
• Coordinate and perform general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other building systems as appropriate.
• Maintain the appearance and safety of the shelter grounds, parking areas, and walkways.
• Schedule and oversee outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs before they become major problems.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, and service schedules.
• Assist with planning, budgeting, and estimating costs for facility improvements, repairs, and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA standards, fire safety regulations, and other governmental requirements.
• Assist with emergency facility repairs and weather-related response as needed.
• Purchase maintenance supplies and manage inventory within approved budgets.
• Support staff with room setups, special events, and facility-related needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, property management, or a related trade preferred.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Comfortable operating maintenance equipment and power tools safely.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and working indoors and outdoors.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
