Safe Containment for Cats Visiting Our Clinic

Cat Carrier & Safe Containment Policy

To ensure the safety of cats, clients, and staff, all cats must be presented in an appropriate, secure, and humane form of containment.

Proper Cat Carriers

  • Cats must be transported in a secure, appropriately sized cat carrier designed for cat transportation.
  • Soft-sided carriers are discouraged due to the increased risk of escape, collapse, or difficulty safely handling the cat during transport and veterinary care. A sturdy, hard-sided carrier is strongly recommended.
  • The carrier must be large enough for the cat to comfortably stand, turn around, and lie down.
  • The carrier must be secure and in good working condition, with doors and latches that properly close and prevent the cat from escaping.
  • Carriers should provide adequate ventilation and should not have openings large enough for the cat to escape.
  • Cats should remain safely contained until instructed by staff.

Improper Containers

Cats presented in boxes, bags, open containers, laundry baskets, cardboard boxes, or other unsecured or inappropriate devices will not be accepted for routine handling or veterinary services.

If a cat is presented in an improper container, staff will not accept the cat for services. You will be declined and will need to reschedule and return on another day with the cat in an appropriate form of containment.
