To keep our clinics running smoothly and fairly for every pet owner in Catawba County, we ask that you review the following scheduling policies before booking a spay/neuter, wellness, or feral cat appointment.
General Appointment Policy
Rescheduling NoticeWe require 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.
Missed AppointmentsIf you miss your appointment without notice, we will reschedule your surgery once. After that, your fee is non-refundable.
Reschedule & Cancellation FeeA $25.00 fee applies to reschedule or cancel an appointment.
Weather PolicyIn the case of inclement weather, our staff will reschedule your appointment at no additional fee.

Owner Surrender, Strays & Emergency Situations
The Humane Society of Catawba County accepts owned pets from Catawba County residents and surrounding areas as space allows. Please review the following policies before requesting a surrender or reporting a stray.
Owner Surrender
Relinquishment FeeA relinquishment fee of $50.00 is collected at intake and goes directly toward the animal's care until adoption.
Appointment OnlyOwner surrenders are by appointment only. A staff member will contact you within 72 hours of your request with further instructions.
Behavioral Assessment (Dogs)All dogs undergo a behavioral assessment at the shelter before we commit to accepting them.
